Maccabi Haifa Basketball club gives back to the community on two levels:
Haifa Hoops for Kids
Haifa Hoops for Kids is a joint initiative of United Jewish Communities (UJC) of
MetroWest NJ and the Maccabi Haifa professional basketball team, that offers companies, individuals, and organizations the chance to send underprivileged youth throughout northern Israel to experience a Night of Fun at a Maccabi Haifa basketball game.
Since 2008, Maccabi Haifa has hosted over 10,000 children in need at its home games, whom otherwise could not afford the opportunity to attend a professional basketball game.
Both Maccabi Haifa and its players understand the great importance in keeping in contact with these children as they visit them at their respective institutions, in their natural environment throughout the season.
"All a child needs is one adult to believe in him/her..."(Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach)
Community Activities
In addition to Haifa Hoops for Kids program, Maccabi Haifa players participate at least once a week, in organized group activities at schools and high schools in Haifa and the North.
Players teach important values such as teamwork, leadership, cooperation, reliability, motivation and helping others through basketball.
